IFC Export module
IFC Export - Work In Progress
This is the Work In Progress (WIP) version of the IFC Export plugin for VisualARQ and Rhino.
The Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) file format is a standard way of exchanging objects in the building industry to reduce loss of information when transmitting files between different applications.
The current version of IFC Export exports Walls, Columns, Doors, Windows, Openings, Slabs, Roofs, and Spaces from a VisualARQ model to a IFC 2×3 file. Revit 2009 and AutoCAD Architecture 2009 have been used to test the generated IFC files. In future versions we will add support for other objects in VisualARQ and for Rhino solids.
NOTE: Walls can be straight, curved or with a custom base, but they must be always generated from a base extrusion. This is a limitation of the current WIP version. In future versions, all free-form wall types, stairs and Rhino solids will be supported.

What’s New:
- WIP4 (October 8, 2009):
- Now it is a real export plug-in.
- VisualARQ 1.0 RC3 is now required.
Download and install:
Download IFC Export WIP4. The installer looks for VisualARQ on the machine and copies the necessary files to the same folder where VisualARQ is installed. If no IFC export option appears in the “Save As…” dialog, you may need to install manually the plug-in (The installer copies the RHP plug-in file inside the system folder located inside VisualARQ program files directory)
Note: VisualARQ is required.
WARNING:
As the name WIP implies, this software is at a “Work-in-Progress” stage (early Alpha release). Although it has been internally tested, you should know that it is still not stable, and may fail. Also it is not feature complete, and many more options will be added in future releases. We strongly recommend NOT to use it for any important work, and to back up the files you open with VisualARQ. If you are not comfortable running “Work-in-Progress” software, do not download this plugin.
